Setting Up PPP for Open Transport
PPP for Open Transport was released by Apple with System 7.6. It requires that you have Open
Transport installed. You can determine if you have Open Transport by seeing if you have a control
panel named TCP/IP instead of the older MacTCP control panel. In addition to TCP/IP, it adds two new
control panels that must be configured: Modem and PPP.
In the following scenario a user named John Doe is setup with login id jdoe. |

Setting Up E-mail in Netscape 3.x
1) Under the Options menu choose Mail and News Preferences. |
| 2) Choose the Servers tab and you will see the following dialog box: |

| 3) Here you will enter the mail server's name,
mail.rlc.net, twice: once for incoming POP3, and once for outgoing SMTP. In the last field enter your e-mail user name,
or in this case jdoe. You can also specify the news server here, news.rlc.net. |

1) Under the Setup choose Accounts |
| 2) Choose New and then select Internet |
| 3) You will see the following dialog box: |

| The account name may be anything you choose.
Enter your full name in the next field. Enter your email account as username@mail-host, or in this
case, jdoe@mail.rlc.net. (Note: this is not your email address, you must include the full
hostname here mail.rlc.net) Next enter your password, outgoing SMTP server mail.rlc.net,
and finally your shortened email address, or in this case jdoe@rlc.net. |
